Zama says thank to her mom in style

In a bid to thank Mzansi’s moms, McCain South Africa came up with the initiative for the children to give back to their mothers for positive role they play in their daily upbringings.

Zama Hlubi (13) who is in Grade 8 at Forte Secondary School, saw the letter she wrote to her mom chosen as the ultimate winning letter of the competition.

As part of her winning prize, Zama took her mom to Lolo’s Guest Lounge for a special meal.

“At the guest lounge, I cooked my mom’s favourite dish of fish, chips, rice and green salad. McCain presented my mom with special plates, R100 voucher and I also won a R10 000 cheque for my school,” explained Hlubi.

The McCain and Zama planned the whole surprise outing, including finding the perfect spot for the surprise lunch at a garden at Lolo’s Guest Lounge.

The table was set and Zama and the McCain chef spent the morning cooking her mom’s favourite dish.

It is the little things like the special morning notes Zama’s mom writes for her or the secret packet of cheese Doritos that her mom surprises her with that means verything to the teen..

The big moment finally arrived and Zama went to fetch her mom, Nthabiseng Motshwane, and brought her to the table in the garden.

The meal was served on a one-of-a-kind plate that McCain had made for the occasion which had a special message on it from Zama to her mom.

As Nthabiseng ate, the message was revealed, “You are the best thing in my whole life. I love you mom!”

“Her mom was speechless, didn’t know what to say except, “Thank you for making me feel so special.

“I’ve never had anything like this done for me and I feel so loved.”

She has been teaching Zama how to cook from the age of 7 and said, “My daughter will be a great cook one day.”
