Ekac development was harvesting potatoes in their vegetable garden that is based at Nkonjani Junior School in Meadowlands Zone 6.
According to Sharon Kwangwana, the potatoes were cultivated in February this year by 3 people.
“We decided to gather the children attending agricultural classes, life coaching classes and are part of our soccer team to help us harvest,” said Kwangwana.
Kwangwana said it is sad today because one of them could not harvest with them because she is attending a funeral at her home but they were with her throughout.
“Winnie Ndlovu was part of the programme from day one,” she said.
Kwangwana said the potatoes will be distributed to the school, needy houses in the community and in a nearby house for a funeral.
“We have already identified the disadvantaged families that we will be giving the potatoes.
“And we will not be giving away all the potatoes others will sell so that we can raise funds for our organisation.
She said as an NPO they struggle to buy gardening materials and food for their feeding scheme programme.
“We would like to plea with different business to assist in any way they could.
“We would appreciate any form of donations and agricultural materials,” said Kwangwana.
Kwangwana said they’re grateful to the school principal for allowing them to have their organisation in the school.
“The principal is so supportive to our programmes,” she said.
Kwangwana said as an NPO they would like to urge young individuals who are just sited at home to come and attend our programmes during the week.
