Blood Redeeming Ministries celebrates Youth Day in Mapelaberg

BRM doesn’t just cater for the elderly.

June 16 is Youth Day in South Africa, the day is celebrated in commemoration of the lives lost during the Soweto Uprising in June 1976. Students stood up against an education system that was discriminatory as well as oppressive.

The Soweto Uprising has made its mark in the lives of many and many churches like Blood Redeeming Ministry (BRM) conduct activities like handing out the soup with bread and biscuits to the children.

The biscuits were sponsored by Casa Mia, a biscuit company situated in nearby Nancefield.

BRM is an organisation that caters for the elderly as well the children of the Eldorado Park community.

The church consists of only six members who are; Pastor Emmanuel Carelse, Sharon Sampson, Bernice Small, Shoneez Matthews, Hester Lincks and Mary-Anne Dixon.

They do not have any offices, and because catering for the community is what they do, each individual cooks up the meals at their homes.

Youth Day was a real eventful day for the team as they not only gave out food parcels but also hosted a six-a-side soccer tournament for the children in Mapelaberg Street in Extension Two.

Before handing out soup on Youth Day, the BRM team had another soup kitchen at The Village in Kremetart Street Eldorado Park Extension Three.

They do this for the elderly twice a month on Wednesdays at The Village.

The BRM team are looking for more sponsors to help their initiative grow to greater heights.

For more information on the work that they do, please contact Carelse on 072 958 8942 or Mary-Anne Dixon on 083 406 6970.
