Adult education specialists, Media Works have launched a dynamic new programme, Matric Works that gives out-of-school learners the chance to gain their Amended Senior Certification (ASC) in a way that is accessible, online and affordable.
It is estimated that only a third of adults in South Africa have completed Grade 12, which leaves the large majority of adults in the country without the education necessary to gain employment of their choice or to pursue higher education.
Through Matric Works, learners can recap, learn and be prepared for the nationally recognised Department of Education examinations.
By successfully completing these exams, they will be awarded their Amended Senior Certificate, an equivalent of Matric.
“Matric Works is answering a need that many South African adults have today.
“Once a person has fallen out of the schooling system, there was previously no straightforward way back,” said Dennis Lamberti, the Development Director of Media Works.
“ASC is the way for out-of-school learners to have another chance at getting their Grade 12, and Matric Works is the vehicle through which learners can succeed,” he said.
As one of the large Private Adult Basic Education and Training provider in South Africa, Media Works’ various programmes on offer are currently used as a significant instructional resource by over 100 000 learners across Southern Africa.
Building on the engaging, multi-platform, e-learning programmes that the programme has developed over the decades, the Matric Works curriculum has been presented in a way that utilises best-practice solutions in digital education, giving learners the chance to study anywhere, anytime on any device.
The programme offers learners two accessible, online learning options, both of which allows learners to complete the work at their own pace.
