“I am Tambai, my spirit lives on”

Tambai was raped and stoned to death in Naledi after what is suspected to be a corrective rape case.

Lerato Moloi was laid to rest at Avalon Cemetery over the weekend after her brutal murder last week.

Her half-naked body was discovered open space next to a certain house in Naledi, by community members after a meeting.

There were big stones next to the head of the woman and she also had about three wounds on her neck and a knife was found next to her lifeless body.

The victim was declared dead on scene and investigations revealed that the suspects had known the victim prior her brutal murder.

The suspects have been arrested and are said to appear in court for a bail hearing on May 29.

Investigations revealed that the male suspect was the last person who was seen with the victim prior to her death and that they had a quarrel about money.

The community hall was filled with the LGBTIA community from all around the country in support of the family’s loss and to raise awareness on such issues that are not addressed in the community.

The 27-year-old was an activist and well-known to residents.

Songs of the struggle of black, lesbian women filled the air throughout where members of the community couldn’t help but picket with signs on the brutality of corrective rape and murders of black lesbians in the community.

Hence they will display that anger within one another and they kill each other it’s because of the way we raise our children.

“It is time we revive our street communities.”

A short protest march commenced on the street while the funeral proceedings were going on to raise awareness for residents.
