Protea Glen Police braved the cold on May 17 when they arrested a young suspect for possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of dagga and in the possession of suspected stolen property in extension 16 ( Glenridge).
On a routine patrol, the police were tipped off about a man selling dagga at a house in phase three in the area.
Officials went to the house in question and found a man in the yard who confirmed that he stays in the backyard room.
He then led the police to his room to be searched.
Sergeant Vincent Mashiteng, Communication Officer of the station said, “Plastic bags containing dagga, cellphones, one camera, two knives, and a firearm (rifle) were found inside his wardrobe.
“On request, the suspect couldn’t produce a license for the firearm and also could not answer where he got the cellphones from.”
The suspect was arrested on the scene for the above-mentioned charges and will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court.
