Breaking: Dead baby found at dump site

Residents of Motsoaledi have made a shocking discovery while clearing a dumping site.

Residents of Motsoaledi have made a shocking discovery while cleaning an illegal dump site this morning.

A foetus was found wrapped in a black bin bag. The baby is estimated to be a few months old.

“While we were busy cleaning the dump site, we noticed that one of the plastic bags had what looked like blood stains. We thought it was a sanitary pad, but upon close inspection, we were shocked to discover that it was a baby,” said Sibongile Ratshakane, an eye witness.

Police have been called to the scene for an investigation. Residents decided to take it upon themselves to clean the illegal refuse heap after it being in existence for a long time.

Wiseman Nxamashe, a resident of Motsoaledi, was leading a group of volunteers who were cleaning the area.

“This dumping site has been a problem for a long time now. Due to the fact that authorities have failed to come help us, we decided to clean it ourselves,” said Nxamashe.

Information regarding the person responsible for dumping the baby remains unknown at this time, but Diepkloof police are on the scene.

The Orlando Urban News reporter is on site and awaiting a comment from the Diepkloof police communications officer. This incident has raised health concerns amongst residents in the past, which is the reason for them cleaning up the dump site.
