Eskom technicians chased away in Pimville

Residents of Pimville to host a meeting to discuss issues surrounding electricity

Eskom technicians were chased away on May 2 by Pimville Ward 22 residents as the electricity utility workers allegedly tried to forcefully install green boxes, also known as split metres or prepaid metres.

The community met last Sunday (April 30) at the Pimville Primary School to reiterate that they do not want the prepaid system because of rampant unemployment in the area and the system’s unaffordability.

The Ward Councillor, Elizabeth Mabaso, apparently could not point out the names of those who say they welcome the system.

She was invited by the Pimville (Ward 22) Task Team and had to leave the meeting abruptly.

The next community meeting will be on May 14 at Pimville ( Bantu) Primary School at 3 pm.

Issues to be discussed include a possible protest march against the councillor and the City of Johannesburg.
