7 safety tips for housebreaking

Police give crucial information to the community.

Dobsonville Police’s Captain Jeanette Phefo says it is important for the public to know that housebreaking and theft is still a problem in the community.

House breaking and theft is an unlawful and intentional breaking into a building with an intention to steal.

Phefo says the station wishes to share essential tips that should help prevent and or limit the number of housebreaking and theft.

The safety tips are;

1.

Don’t leave outside lights on the whole day

2.

Avoid leaving the gate or garage doors to property opened

3.

Don’t leave your tools or valuables within easy reach of the prospective burglar

4.

Know all your emergency numbers

5.

Never leave keys in the locks or at the door

6.

Curtains should be closed after dark

7.

Inform the police of suspicious character who you consider to pose a threat
