Executive mayor Herman Mashaba addresses Diepkloof residents

Executive Mayor of the City of Joburg, Herman Mashaba was in Diepkloof for IDP meeting

The Executive Mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, attended the City’s final Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Summit in Diepkloof Multipurpose Hall yesterday.

This follows an extended programme of public consultations on the IDP which is a five-year strategy for responding to the City’s service delivery needs.

Regrettably, some of these public consultations have been marred by acts of violence aimed at preventing these crucial public consultations.

Office of the mayor was made aware of a message allegedly distributed by the ANC to its members, calling on them to prevent peaceful public consultations.

The message also instructs ANC members not to wear party attire so as to make them less identifiable. The message reads:

“Comrades, the Regional  Secretary have mandated all branches to come out in numbers to counter the so-called EFF Ground Forces. The time has come and the time is now. Ground forces must learn to respect our President. We still need to control Ward based tenders, EWP and Jozi@work Jobs and to enable our Moses Kotane Brigades resources to mobilize.”

However, Councillor Brenda Dammie of Ward 30, honourably stood up and welcomed the mayor and his MMC’s saying; “We are all here for one goal, and that is to see and perpetuate the innovation of our city.”

MMC for Community Development Nonhlanhla Sifumba was present to welcome the house as well.

The mayor addressed the house and residents were given the opportunity to voice out their concerns.

The mayor thanked the people for taking the time to listen to his address and for them participating.
