Usambara was lit with Westbury’s flair
The Westbury High banquet took place on March 31, at Usambara in Krugersdorp. It was a night where the girls and boys of the school got to be called ladies and gentleman by their teachers.
This banquet was said to be first in the history of the school to have this early in the year.
According to Been Robinson, principal of the school, he called a meeting with the school governing body and management and decided that it was best to have the event now.
Robinson said “I said to them why don’t we have it this time of the year, so that they can party and then focus after this. So that their focus is on achieving because to me my focus is basically on the matric graduation, that we had for the past nine years.
“There we honour, so to me that should actually be the banquet but be that as it may, this is a highlight in the community, I’ve driven through the community this afternoon, it was like a carnival atmosphere in our community.
“So it’s something that brings some bright lights to our community so let’s do it but the earlier you do it the better so that they can focus on their school work afterwards.”
Wishes to the Class of 2017:
“I just wish them well for their future, we need more of them in tertiary institutions, we need more bright lights coming out of our community,” said Robinson.
