Environmentorz taking on water conservation

“Water does no arrive in our homes by magic”

The dry spell experienced across South Africa and the subsequent water cut-offs should set off alarm bells in every community. Many of us take for granted the ready availability of water in our homes. We know that it is available at the turn of a tap and give little thought to where our water comes from and what we can do to save water.

Environmentorz marketing manager, Kaylene Jegels said,”Water does not arrive in our homes by magic. It starts as run-off into streams and rivers which are caught in dams, purified, pumped, stored and finally, piped into our homes.”

“South Africa is a water scarce country. We only receive half of the world’s average annual rainfall and only 9 percent of that rainfall ends up in our rivers, with the rest lost to evaporation.”

With worrying statistics like that and the rate at which water is wasted, Environmentorz is setting off on an awareness campaign to teach residents about the importance of water and how to save water by using it more efficiently.

The group is launching the campaign at the Albertus Pop Centre on April 6 at 9 30 am. The community is invited to attend and learn about the importance of saving water and many valuable water saving tips to conserve this life-sustaining resource.

Environmentorz are based at the Eldorado Park Stadium in Cumming Road, and Jegels may be contacted on the office line on 011 039 2249 or 079 299 7743 for any further information.

Residents can follow them on the Twitter handle @EnvironMentorz NPC to interact and learn about ways of saving the environment.
