Young girls taught about self-discipline and education in Meadowlands Zone 2
Self-esteem is a serious issue in a young girl’s life which can interfere in her dreams and goals
Ukuthula Girls Foundation (UGF) hosted an event that aimed to teach young girls about self-esteem and education.
The event was motivational and young girls who attended were taught about attaining their dreams and loving each other.
The programme director Thuli Dlamini opened the event with a powerful statement; “We all have the same roots but we produce different fruits.
“We are different and therefore we must respect, support and honour each other’s dreams,” she said.
According to one of the founders of UGF Gugu Mwelase, they are gathered here to lay a foundation for young girls to tackle low self-esteem that prevents them from achieving their dreams because of society expectations.
“Black child everything is doable,” she said.
Dududzile Ndaba said that few people inspire a young black child.
“There are things that you are taught at home such as chores but it does not mean one has to work as a domestic worker.
“The teachings serve as a basic block for you to study and be who you want to be in life,” she said.
UGF is a Non-Profit Organisation (NGO) that deals with teenage girls between 12 to 19 years old.
The NGO encourage young girls to have a positive attitude and encourage them to study.
The purpose of the organisation is to create a women’s club were all issues affecting women are discussed.
