Pimville: Hope for unemployed transport owners

Rev Tinyiko Nyathi of Pimville, founded a transport association to assist unemployed transport owners in Soweto.

The transport sector is an essential component of the economy with strong effects on development and the welfare of populations; therefore, transport associations are a key feature of transport services in a community.

Mzansi Black Transport Association, founded by Rev Tinyiko Nyathi from Pimville, aims at advising its members on how to start a transport operation, help members have access to info and reference centre, advise them on permit issues, train them and assist in finding employment within the transport sector.

Rev Nyathi, who is also the President of the association, explained that the goal of the organisation is to help transport owners utilise what they have to find jobs.

The association currently has 23 members and they need a maximum of 100 members prior they submit their documents for registration, on April 20.

According to Rev Nyathi, they have already found job placements for two of their members.

“We urge interested transport owners in Soweto to join the association, as it will benefit them in so many ways, for instance, the transport industry is full of corruption and tricks, therefore, transport owners need to be educated and well informed about how things work in the industry,” said Nyathi.

For those who would like to join the association, the office is currently at the address: Bester, 11733 Ikoloni street in Pimville, you may also contact Rev Nyathi on 011 933 1366 or 074 078 4670.
