Aurora Girls Secondary School in Zola hosted their 2017 beauty pageant at the school last week Thursday.
Being a day to be proud of for the top tree contestants, the pageant has worked in the girls’ favour by improving their confidence and how they express themselves.
The queen of Aurora Girls Secondary for 2017 is Yolanda Bikur while the first princess is Thembelihle Dlamini and the second princess being Knowledge Qubula.
“I was very surprised when they called my name, I didn’t even expect to make it in the top ten.
“This was my very first time participating in pageantry so becoming a queen after a first attempt is truly special to me,” said Yolanda Bikur.
“I just hope that participating in or winning a beauty pageant doesn’t get to these girls heads because, at the end of the day, their priority should be to do well in their school work,” said Nonkululeko Mankanzana, a teacher at the school.
