Praise and Worship this Easter at Joburg Theatre

Get ready for a wonderful Easter with all the right music celebrating the life of Christ

As Easter slowly creeps on us, it’s all about praise and worship for the Christian community and Joburg Theatres has the exact dosage they need to get them ahead in the spirit mode.

They will be hosting a Gospel Spectacular that will accommodate the entire family from April 13 – April 23.

Gracing the Mandela Stage will be a strong 30 ensemble headed up by South Africa’s best pop and gospel artists Cornelius Cruise, Mahalia Buchanan and Brian Thema with a backing of singers and dancers.

Teboho Moloi, a traditional gospel star will also be aiming a special appearance on stage.

Moloi started singing at the age of 12 in the Eastern Cape, however his first big break in 2012 when he had the chance to record his debut album and has never looked back.

Internationally recognised Cornelius Cruise will bring a global flavour to the Spectacular.

He earned three South African Music Nominations after his debut album Not Just Friends hit the charts and stunned South Africans.

Mahalia Buchanan is mostly recognised for her contribution to South Africa’s most powerful gospel group Joyous Celebration but has performed as a soloist and shared stages with international greats namely Pastor Donnie McClurkin.

Her passion for the glory of God resonates in her music and lyrics to inspire people from all walks of life to worship and praise the Lord.

Brian Thema is known for his RnB sounds, but he is also an award-winning singer, songwriter and record producer.

Many became aware of him through his role in a local SA soapie, but he has worked in theatre on a local and international scale.

One of his best accolades, being the first to play the lead role of Simba in  The Lion King on the West End Stage in the UK for five years.

Creative director Andrew Timm said, “Patrons will be dazzled by the sheer visual spectacle of it all, but the real stars of the show are the songs; there’s something new for everyone.”
