60-year-old busted for dealing dagga in Mapetla

A random school search led to a woman's arrest for dealing drugs to learners.

A 60-year-old woman has been arrested for drug dealing in Mapetla late last week. The Soweto West Cluster police hosted a cluster operation to search the schools in Protea Glen and Mapetla.

The police members together with the Community Policing Forum (CPF), the Youth Crime Prevention Desk members, community patrollers and peace officers searched Mapetla High School learners and Reasoma Secondary School learners in Protea North.

According to reports, learners were in the possession dagga, cigarettes, rizlers, drugs, knives and fake pornographic DVD’s.

The learners that were found in the possession of dagga gave information to the police on where they bought the dagga.

The police went to a house in Mapetla, where they found a 60-year-old who was the owner of the home.

The home was searched and a black refuse bag was found containing dagga. A large amount of money was found as well.

The suspect was arrested on the spot and charged with dealing dagga.

The learners who were found in the possession of the abovementioned items were not arrested, but will be disciplined by the schools.

The suspect will appear on in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on the above charge.
