School talk by the Sophia Town SAPS

Talks on drugs, bullying and bunking school

On March, 1, Principal J Davey welcomed the Sophia Town SAPS at the Bernard Isaacs Primary School in Coronationville.

Sector commander Captain Ramashala and his Sector Manager Sergeant Jabulani Mabasa visited the school to address the dangers of drugs and bullying at school as well as the importance of discipline.

The program is aimed at talking to learners and educating them about the dangers of engaging with drugs and bullying and how they can lead to bad consequences.

Drug use and bullying has not being a problem at Bernard Isaacs but educating the learners will prevent them from ever experimenting in those areas.

There has also been a discussion of having the parents attend a meeting so that the SAPS can address the impact of bunking school.

Parents are brought into these talks so that they can also be aware of the incidents that happen in the schools.

Mabasa addressed the learners and encouraged them to improve their futures by staying in school and studying hard. He also encouraged the learners to report any criminal activities whether it’s at school or at home.

According to Warrant Officer Jerbes de Bruyn, these talks will become a regular duty to the officers at Sophia Town SAPS.
