Chilled out vibe at Kickers Lounge attracts Eldos partygoers
The venue has become go-to place for Eldos clubbers
Leverge Visagie, co-owner at Kickers Sports Lounge at the corner of 5th Avenue and Station Road in Viking, was the perfect host as welcomed patrons to the establishment this Saturday.
The avid footballer explained how the club was founded, “My brother-in-law, Floyd Prinsloo and I started in 2010 as Sports Jerepigo’s in response to the growing need for over 35’s, keen on football and other sports to have a venue where they could sit back and watch their favourite sports teams battling it out in competition.”
The venue was subsequently closed and reopened in 2015 and has become the go-to place for party seekers in need of a relaxed atmosphere to wind down after a week of keeping their noses to the grindstone.
“We also host community functions and rent the venue out for free, all door takings are theirs,” he added.
A keen sports enthusiast, Visagie belongs to Ocean Runners and competes in the over 35’s soccer league which is currently winding down the Social Cohesion Games at the Nike Centre in Pimville.
Kickers Sports Lounge is open to sports or social clubs who wish to host fundraising events and plans are afoot to introduce a beer garden, an indoor soccer league and food treats for hungry clubbers.
Prinsloo is also the resident DJ under the stage name DJ Floyd. He played a welcome mix of old school RnB and transitioned to House and Deep House to cater to all musical palates.
No longer content to cater to a single age group, Visagie added, “We are looking at getting live bands to perform at the venue as well as giving young House DJ’s a platform to spin the decks.”
The intimate and warm interior means that seasoned clubgoers can enjoy their favourite sounds while chilling in the lounge chairs or enjoy a game of pool while interacting with other Eldos residents out for a relaxed evening.
