Police applaud community for apprehending a suspect
Residents put a halt on crime in the Emndeni community
The Naledi Police applauded the Tladi community for a citizen’s arrest that was made after the suspect attempted to rob a resident at gunpoint.
Last week Wednesday at around 7:45 pm while walking along Babinaphuthi Street in Tladi, a complainant was being followed by three men for some distance. One of them was holding a firearm and approached him and pointed at the victim with a gun and started searching him.
While the suspect was busy searching the victim, the victim retaliated, grabbed the suspect with the firearm and started assaulting him.
As that was happening, the other two suspects realised that the victim was overpowering their accomplice and they decided to run away, leaving their friend behind.
Some residents witnessed the action and came to the victim’s rescue, resulting in the community agreeing to take the suspect to the police.
The suspect was brought to the police station and a case of attempted armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms was opened.
Police are searching for the other two suspects.
