It’s payday for some and already there’s a chance that Protea Glen residents will be spending unexpectedly after the new branch opening of Cash Crusaders at Protea Glen Mall.
Cash Crusaders opened their 200th store on Friday, February 24, which got residents excited and armed them up on this cold weekend ahead.
From their humble beginnings, the store has been open for 21 years and has managed to reach their target of opening 200 stores before the month of March.
This is not the first store in the South of Johannesburg as Mubarak Basha owner of the franchise said, “We have one in Lenasia, Protea Gardens Midway and one in Diepkloof Square.”
The franchise in Protea Glen Mall has significance because of it reaching the 200th mark.
“This is one of the busiest Mall in South of Johannesburg so we decided to take the store that’s here,” said Basha.
Residents gathered outside to witness the cutting of the ribbon in anticipation.
Vuyani Qezu a resident and shopper said, “Our mall was a little quiet, now there will be more people coming to the mall.”
After a month of renovations, it was ready to be opened with 21 employees born and bred in Soweto.
“Protea Glen Mall management is happy and ready to welcome Cash Crusaders and we are looking forward to do good business with them, and supporting them.
“We expect a rise in the amount of customers that come to the mall,” said Siphiwe Nkosi Marketing manager of the mall.
Cash Crusaders is a respected national franchised brand that fast became part of the South African mainstream retail landscape.
After the cutting of the ribbon customers were welcomed and invited into the new shop to look at merchandise on offer.
“We are planning to open another one in Jabulani Mall, in Bara Mall, if we find premises.
We are asking for support from the people of Protea Glen Mall, and for them to help us grow as a business.” said Basha.
