Residents of White City Extension 3 are gatvol of the dumping happening in their area.
The dumping has been happening for years now still nothing has been done about it.
To make matters worse construction that happened recently on the road added to more waste.
“We have been complaining about this for months now and there is no response. We were advised to go to Pikitup but nothing has been done,” exclaimed Thembekile Dlamini, a resident of White City.
The dumpsite has disastrous consequences for residents of White City. Children from a nearby nursery are affected by the smell from the site and residents can’t even open doors and windows when heatwaves occur because of a number of flies that come in.
The dumpsite also contributes to the increase of crime in the area because criminals use it as their hiding spot.
“We have residents who have small kids in their homes and the smell is not good for the kids. Can we please get some intervention as this has been going on for years now,” pleaded Dlamini.
