Entrepreneurs talk business lingo

It’s all about the right things to do when starting up your business in Soweto

Township entrepreneurs are growing in their crafts especially with Soweto being a bubbling hub of young business.

A group of young individuals has launched “Talking Business Language Seminars” (TBL) for the sole purpose of empowering young entrepreneurs with free services.

Their focus is business start-ups and entrepreneurs around the township and the seminars are hosted on a monthly basis in different locations within the area.

“TBL seminars are pilot projects hosted in different areas around Soweto and specifically launched for entrepreneurs, business starts-ups, scholars and both business men and women of different age group and religious,” said Reneilwe Mashabela the organisation chairlady.

According to Mashabela, it aims to train young people in business vital entrepreneurial and financial literacy skills and helps them start to grow their own micro-enterprises in a fun and experiential way.

Some of the entrepreneurs from different areas in Soweto in one of the Talking Business Language Seminar where entrepreneurship ideas and guidances were shared.

It also enables them to contribute towards the South African Economy. “Our programmes are designed to encourage entrepreneurial thinking and spark the entrepreneurial spirit in both adults and young people.

“We inspire them to live their dreams, implement their ideas and make up for the gaps left by an educational system that ill prepares them for the world of work and business.” said Mashabela.

The event coordinator Bohlale Sekele said that cultivating entrepreneurship in the lives of young people is vital, as they are imaginative, energetic, and willing to take risks.

“But without entrepreneurial education, the enterprising spirit of young people dramatically declines over time and is almost non-existent by the time they become adults and want to contribute to the economy of the country.”

A seminar was held this past Saturday, February 4 in Pimville at the Sugarplum Spa.
