SANBS calls for blood donors, Soweto

Soweto residents called to curb national blood shortage.

Emndeni Skills Development Centre with the South African National Blood Services invites the community to donate blood for their quarterly blood donation drive.

The blood drive will take place on January 27 from 10 am till 2pm at the Emndeni Skills Development Centre. “We plead to all residents to take part in our blood drive and come to donate blood for the need and to save lives. “We are coming from the December period and a lot of blood had been used for accidents during that time so at this point the SANBS urgently needs blood on a daily basis. “Going forward we need people to donate blood regularly and at the same time we call on young people who have not donated blood to come and donate blood.

“We recommend that people donated blood at least four times a year because you will never know if it is your relative who will need blood. “The biggest problem we have is that people think that they don’t qualify without even visiting a blood centre, so if you don’t qualify now, that doesn’t mean you won’t qualify again in the next 6 months,” said Sandile Khulu.
