Frontline service delivery a priority-cops

Fresh from the festive season, brigadier Pieter van Dyk, station commander at the Eldorado Park Police Station, appears energised and determined to tackle the criminals on our streets this year.

van Dyk reiterates his commitment to making Eldorado Park a safer community where residents are safe in the streets and says, “The Eldorado Park police pledge to make frontline service delivery a priority for 2017.”

Captain Phillemon Khorombi, communications officer at the police station, provided information regarding the successful arrest of seven people in separate incidents.

A 49 year old man was arrested for dealing in drugs after police received a tip-off from residents in Extension Four. Police seized an undisclosed amount of cash and a quantity of dagga. The man is due to appear in court following investigations into the case.

In another incident, a 23 year old man was arrested on a charge of common robbery in Freedom Park. The victim was relieved of her cellphone after the man followed and robbed her in Devland. He has been arrested and a case of common robbery laid at the police station.

Two foreign males were arrested in Eldorado Park after police received reports of a vehicle in which the occupants were behaving suspiciously. The vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, was reported stolen in Parkview. Police pounced, and the occupants were arrested for being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

Police patrollers arrested a 29 year old man in Freedom Park for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition after receiving information about a grey VW Polo parked in the area. A 9mm Norinco handgun was recovered and the men carted off to the holding cells at the Eldorado Park police station.

A 39 year old man was charged with assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm after police responded to a call. The victim was transported to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital for treatment and the man was arrested by police.
