According to the Soweto East cluster spokesperson Hitler Ngwenya, 30 year old man, alleged that on January 1 he was approached by five men.
One of the men who is known by the victim as Tupac happened to be a police officer.
The victim alleged that he was treatened by a firearm by one of the men and Tupac grabbed his bag that contained a cellphone and a large amount of money and fled the scene.
The police official was called to the station for questioning and promised to return the items.
“He brought the items as he had said but the money was not there, instead there were drugs in the bag,” said Ngwenya.
The officer was arrested and will appear at the Protea Magistrate court.
The other suspects are still wanted by the police.
