Akulaleki Mowuphasile

Excitements expressed in a song as the class of 2016 received their results

Akulaleki Mawuphasile (You cannot sleep when you passed matric) were the words sung by learners as they browsed newspapers in search of their matric student numbers.

The learners gathered at the Sasol garage in Meadowlands zone 6 waiting patiently for the newspaper to be delivered.

The newspapers were delivered at around 23:20pm and learners screamed in excitement as they saw their student numbers in the newspaper.

Dimpho Boikanyo from Mokgome Secondary School who was among the group of learners couldn’t hold her excitement when she saw her student number.

“I am very happy that I passed, I am going to the University of Johannesburg.

Mpho Vilankuku also from Mokgome said that she is so excited that her hard work paid off: “I am grateful to our teachers especially Miss Mnguni.”

Ofentse Nimrod Ngema from Mokgome was one of the learners from the group who did exceptionally well by obtaining six distinctions.

“I don’t know what to say, I am enjoying the fruits of my hard work, I worked very hard by disassociating myself from the social life and focused more on my studies.

“I plan to study Electrical Engineering this year, I am grateful to all my teachers and my family for the support.”

It was an unforgettable night as many learners passed their matric.
