Residents in Diepkloof Phase Three are being overrun by rats and insects that are invading their homes and they blame the waste that is being dumped around the open spaces in the area.
Moloko Khumalo of Diepkloof Phase Three said, “It would be senseless for us to dump waste around our houses because it will return and create problems for us, people who are dumping here are not from around here.”
Khumalo’s neighbours have planned to create a petition to the councillor for the removal of the waste and for a plan to be implemented to clean the open spaces. Khumalo said, “The odour from the dumping sites is unbearable and surely unhealthy.”
