YakCyberbeats won the beat battles twice this year
He has produced for big names in the game and has ambitions to take over the game himself.
YakCyberbeats won the Slaghuis Beat Battle competition for the second time this year on November 27. Liyabulela Sishuba (24) who is better known as YakCyberbeats is a hip hop producer and engineer from Katlehong (K1), East Rand.
He has won numerous beat battles around Gauteng and his latest triumph was at Slaghuis for the second time this year. Back in 2014 Sishuba got his breakthrough when he had a chance to work with F eezy and he featured Smashis of Cash Time, the track was on high rotation and was number one on 5FM while number six on YFM’s Hot99.
The track also helped F eezy get signed by Universal Music. YakCyberbeats co-produced Simelane, penmanship for Smashis with Gemini Major has also worked with Ntukza of Teargas , Nelz the Hustle on Vuzu, TLT (signed by Kwesta) Kommanda Obbs feat Zakwe & Reason ,SirBigga , Horas Tha God (Jonny Joburg ) ,Siya Shezi Maseven , K1Dime & RazorDakid (Both Etv Shizniz Mixtape Kings).
YakCyberbeats’ music has a smooth and soulful production style that sometimes relies on samples. He traps a lot, uniquely adding his touch, he’s also known for his love for a crazy bassline on tracks. Growing up wasn’t easy being one of two raised by a single parent who was a domestic worker.
Sishuba said, “I was raised well and nothing came easy or on a silver platter. I had to work hard for everything I own.”
He fell in love with music back in 2005; he used to buy R20 mp3 players, record Sgubhu samampela on SABC 1 at night using a VCR. In 2008 he started rapping and was one of the four in a Crew called KST. He started making beats in 2011 at the Vaal University, and he has not looked back ever since. He got help from Tempo Beats and Mbongeni Msibi (SirBigga) who produced the hit single; Shake it, by Gang of Instrumentals. YakCyberbeats himself said,
