Slaghuis was celebrating their 13th year anniversary on November 28 at the Slaghuis studios. They celebrated the anniversary with a street festival and invited Sizwe Lebaka who is well known as Reason.
The street festival had a massive line up with artists like F EEZY, JNR, Molly, One blood, Charlie Macc, Capital Dolla, Trouble Maker, Sean Ego, Black and a surprise act. The Slaghuis team is dedicated to uplifting the up and coming artists in Soweto and attracts ambitious youths who want to take part in the industry.
Kgomotso Nyathi and Tumi Kwenda displayed their clothes on one of the stalls at the venue with the hope to get more customers and grow their brand. Liyabulela Sishuba who is well known in Diepkloof as YakCyberbeats won the beat battles while Freshman from Germiston won the MC battles against Eucalyptus of Diepkloof. The event comprised of a wide range of activities such as a graffiti expo, beat competitions, rap battles, extreme sports, exhibition stalls, tattoo parlour and live performances.
The Slaghuis events take place on the last Sunday of the month. Jeffery Nkosi of Slaghuis said, “Our 13th Anniversary was wonderful and the reception from the people was warm and we are grateful that people attended.” Slaghuis is like the home of old and new artists so they catered for the old and new fans of the Hip Hop nation.
