Fake magic muthi man busted!

Conman busted for extortion and possession of fake money.

A young man has been arrested for theft under false pretense and possession of fake money last week on Horsetail Street in Protea Glen extension 12.

The sector police were approached by a 40-year-old man who told them about a man who was allegedly pretending to be a traditional healer took his money.

Sergeant Vincent Mashiteng, communications officer at the Protea police station said, “The man the doctor offered to help him by ensuring that his businesses succeed and he will make a lot of money.

The victim alleged that he gave the doctor an amount of R137 900 for two consultations.

He said that the doctor told him that he will use his magic to ensure that the money is doubled.”

According to the statement, the money was put in a box and he was told to come back after few days. When he went back the doctor was not there and he was told that he was no longer staying there.

The victim traced the doctor to a house in extension 12 and he called the police. The man found in the house was identified by the victim as the one who had taken his money.

The house was searched and R100 notes, ‘muti’, client’s photos and pamphlets were found in a very dark bedroom which was allegedly used as a consultation room. The suspect was arrested for the above-mentioned crime.

The suspect will appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court soon.

“Police are appealing to anyone who has been a victim of this crime in the area to come to Protea Glen Police Station to report it,” said Mashiteng.
