A Phiri home has been knocked down after being sold without the family's knowledge.

A house was bulldozed yesterday morning in Imvubu street in Phiri this morning.

Nomsa Xulu, grandchild of the original owners of the home, “We have been evicted three times from our home and the community has been very helpful in assisting us to move back inside”.

Xulu said they didn’t even know the house was being sold, the neighbours informed them but didn’t believe it.

“It’s only when real estate agents came to the house to evaluate then property when we realised it was true,” said Xulu.

Two bakkies dropped off armed men and were escorting a bulldozer to the home, the family’s belongings were placed outside the home and the house was bulldozed in front of the community and the family members.

“All we could do was watch because we were threatened that if we tried to help, we would get hurt,” said a resident who didn’t want to be named.

The neighbours will house the family till the case is resolved.

The matter has been taken to court , the first court date was in September and the next appearance will be next week Tuesday.
