Soweto East Cluster to launch 16 Days of Activism campaign, Eldos

Zero tolerance to violence against women and children.

November is the month in which the annual 16 Days of Activism campaign is conducted and the Soweto East Cluster has thrown their weight fully behind this endeavour.

Police are planning to launch a campaign on no violence against the most vulnerable within our community-our women and children. The launch date is on November 25 and is scheduled to take place at the Maponya Mall in Pimville, Soweto.

Various activities are planned by police to entertain attendees during the campaign and include DJs, celebrity participation and exhibitions to raise awareness about safety issues within the community.

Police will maintain a strong presence and will engage and interact with residents around issues affecting women and children. This exercise is aimed at creating healthy rapport between the police and residents and seeks to strengthen the solid relationship enjoyed between the two parties.Representatives from the Department of Social Development and the Member of the Executive Committee for Safety as well as the Provincial Office of the South African Police Services will attend the event.

Residents are reminded that the 16 Days of Activism’s primary focus is to increase awareness about the plight of women and children trapped in violent situations and that the police are actively combating this pandemic through a zero tolerance for crimes committed against women and children.
