Feed My Lambs embracing the elderly, Eldos

A small way of giving back

Feed My Lambs Christian Primary School at the corner of Vincent and Allie Streets in Extension Nine, treated Eldorado Park senior citizens to a day of entertainment on October 13.

The school has been in existence for the past 20 years and have within its staff complement, a number of the elderly.

Former principal Alleweya Goss started the initiative to keep elderly residents in touch with the younger residents in Eldorado Park.

The senior citizens present at the event, hail from different extensions in Eldorado Park and they applauded the pupils’ lively renditions of gospel songs and shared in the excitement exuded by performing pupils.

Feed My Lamb pupils can be viewed in the video below, providing entertainment.

Adele Jacobs, current principal at the school said, “The elderly in our community are largely left on their own and almost feel abandoned by their families. It is very important to maintain close ties with them and engage them because they are the custodians of certain traditions and values which we need to keep alive.”

“We live from the community and this is our small way of giving back. It also ties in with our school motto which is ‘Knowledge, growth, and service’.”

Jacobs pleaded with the community to support organisations which engage the elderly and cements their roles within society.

Previous concerts have seen a large number of people turning out in support, but numbers have dwindled in recent years due to transportation issues.

The elderly were provided with a healthy lunch afterward and the joy on their faces was a pleasing sight.
