New Park currently under construction in Meadowlands

The festive season will be greener and fun for the community of Meadowlands.

City Parks with Manyuwa constructions and J.V Konanani are currently building a mini-park in Meadowlands zone 4 next to Sifikile and Tshakuma street.

Site manager Justice Mitileni said that they’re constructing the community park for sports and recreation in order for children to stay away from dangerous curiosities and create jobs for the community.

The construction started in September and it’s a three-month programme set to be completed by December.

Chief Liaison Officer Arthur Vilakazi said: ” The area was desolate and there was a need to rehabilitate it.”

Vilakazi said that they haven’t named the park yet, they will be using the street name next to the park Tshukuma and as soon as their done the community will be given the opportunity to come up with the name.

In their attempt to keeping the park safe Vilakazi said: ” Two people will be selected to monitor the park by working with the police when they identify any suspicious activities, but the community must take ownership of the park, they must be accountable because it’s their park and should always report unlawful activities taking place at the park.”

The Tshukuma park will add to a number of parks that Meadowlands have such as the Zone 2 park, Zone 7 park which was opened last year and other mini-parks found in Meadowlands.
