Vintage clothing affordable alternative, Eldos

Credit facilities proving expensive for many.

With the economic downturn and stringent credit rules in application, vintage clothing is an easily affordable alternative to opening credit facilities at major retailers.

In a community such as Eldorado Park, with its glaring socio-economic disparities, it is a major departure from plunging further into debt for many people.

Voeght and her sister, Gabriele McGowan (25) started trading in vintage clothing for resale as a means of meeting this need within the community.

Voeght says, “As a young woman, I wanted to look good and wear affordable quality clothing but not necessarily at the inflated prices retailers were asking.”

After a stint in the United Kingdom, she realised that trading and reselling of high-quality items could be a way in which she could assist those unable to afford high prices charged without plunging clients into debt.

Self-professed fashionistas, Voeght and McGowan took the decision to explore the idea of introducing the idea of vintage clothing to the Eldorado Park community at remarkably low prices.

She adds that “With the quality of clothing we have at our disposal, a woman can be fully dressed and spend as little as R300 excluding accessories such as shoes and handbags. This is great value for money as the clothing are of high quality with some well-known brands available as well.”
