Theft of tablet devices on the rise in Kliptown

Pupils complain that the Tablet Devices issued by Department of Education are getting stolen.

Kliptown police have expressed concerns over the increase in the number of cases related to robbed or stolen Department of Education issued tablets.

“At least two to three cases are reported every week and investigations to these reports are continuing,” said police spokesperson captain Hitler Ngwenya.

Police have also issued a warning to pupils not to report false cases on reasons that they don’t want to return the tablets to the school.

Ngwenya said, “We are pleading with pupils and parents not to promote such conduct. Should investigation reveal that a false case had been reported, people will be charged with perjury,”
