Police have launched a manhunt following a shootout which took place in Kliptown this past weekend.
According to police reports, an unknown man opened fire on three men at Union Road Informal Settlements leaving one dead and two others critically injured.
The reason for the shooting is unknown at the moment, according to police spokesperson captain Hitler Ngwenya.
“A man was inside his shack while his three friends were enjoying drinks outside. He suddenly heard gunshots and went outside to see what was happening. He found all his three friends laying on a pool of blood and called the police,” said Ngwenya.
One man was declared dead on the scene while the other two were rushed to hospital. No arrests have been made thus far and investigations are continuing.
Ngwenya appealed with residents not to try apprehend the shooters because they are deemed dangerous.
Anyone with information that can help the police is urged to come forward.
