Ward 42 councillor ensure the community that the street project will continue

The street project was stopped because there was not enough money for storm water drains

Ward 42 Councillor Nefotoni Takalani announced in a meeting that was held at Mpumalanga Primary School that the Forbes street project will continue.

The street project was started in zone 8 meadowlands and stopped at KwaManxumalo in Zone 2 because there was not enough money for storm water drains.

Takalani said that the project will continue from KwaManxumalo to the Engine garage and that includes ward 41.

The street project was initiated as the result of the road accidents that occur on the Forbes road.

According to Takalani a successful street wise campaign was initiated in order to educate the community and drivers about the importance of driving safely.

“Even though the street project was initiated to tackle the issue of road accidents that does not mean that the road accidents will stop but they can be prevented,” he said.

Takalani said that once the project continues there will be a need for an ethical Chief Liaison Officer (CLO) who will communicate with the community about labour related matters.

“The CLO is not allowed to hire family members and several people of the same street where he or she stay.”

The date to when the project will start has not yet been released.
