JMPD officer accidentally shot by SAPS officer.

The flats in Eldorado Park Extension Two, known locally as ‘B-section’ were teeming with police activity on September 30. This following reports of a hijacked vehicle traced to the area by law enforcement agencies.

According to reports, a VW Polo was hijacked from the Northcliff area and tracked to Eldorado Park.IMG-20160930-WA0003


Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD), who received air support from a South African Police Services (SAPS) helicopter, gave chase and a firefight ensued between officers and the fleeing man.

Eyewitnesses report that a JMPD officer was accidentally shot by a SAPS officer. The JMPD officer sustained injuries as a result and was taken to Milpark Hospital for treatment.

His condition has been described as stable and his injuries ascertained to be nonlife-threatening. The man implicated in the hijacking has been apprehended and a case of hijacking opened at the Northcliff police station.
