Kliptown man gets 15 years for attempted murder

Kliptown Police thank residents for their cooperation.

The Lenasia Magistrate Court has sentenced Vusi Ndidi to 15 years direct imprisonment for attempted murder.

The 29-year-old from Kliptown was sentenced on Tuesday. He was arrested in November last year by the Kliptown Crime Prevention Unit after he shot a man two times.

According to police  reports, the shooting followed an argument which ensued between the victim and women at a local tavern.

“The fight between the man and the women got physical and the women ran away. A few moments later she came back with Ndidi and pointed at the victim without saying anything. Ndidi then shot the victim two times before fleeing the scene on foot,” said constable Thuli Ngwenya.

Ndidi was arrested in November following a tip-off from residents. He was detained and charged with attempted murder and possession of an illegal firearm.

Constable Ngwenya would like to thank residents for their cooperation which led to the conviction.
