While residents in the Westbury area were celebrating Heritage Day crime was still rampant in the area.
A man in his twenties was shot in Circle Court, Westbury over the weekend.
A resident who wishes to remain anonymous said she was walking in the street when gunshots were fired.
“I was making my way to the takeaway shop in that street and heard loud gunshots while residents were running for cover.”Later I saw the young man lying in the street and people immediately contacted the police and ambulance,” she said.
Police arrived on the scene but could not comment directly as they were searching for the main perpetrator.
They (Sophiatown Police Station) are however investigating the case and follow-up on the case will be provided.
