Hashtag persuasion protest created to #FreeSowetoPride

Social media used as a platform to voice opinions about the postponement of the Soweto Pride

The LGBTI community and supporters have taken their grievances to social media platforms using the hashtag #FreeSowetoPride, following the announcement by FEW that Soweto Pride which was supposed to be held on September 24 in Meadowlands has been postponed.

An online petition was also created as a means to try and stop the postponement.

“We can’t be bullied by the state #FreeSowetoPride,” said Mduduzi Nzalo on Facebook.

” Our lives matter too.

“Enough is enough kwanele,” said Tumelo @Myza_melo on twitter.

FEW and other organisation are asking people to support and spread this hashtag.

FEW released a statement yesterday that the Soweto pride has been postponed because of being bullied by state entities.

No new date has been announced yet.
