Department of Infrastructure Development spending R375 million on Gauteng schools

GDE to replace all mobile schools across the province in the next five years.

The Department of Infrastructure Development is spending R375 million on the construction of schools in Soweto.

Four schools are currently under construction in Bramfischerville.

Three of those are replacement schools where old mobile classrooms and other structures are being replaced by full brick and mortar schools.

The names of the schools as confirmed by the Gauteng Department of Education are;

  • Julius Sebolai Primary
  • Moses Kotane Primary
  • Nkone Maruping Primary
  • The fourth is a new primary school, which is Bramfischerville Primary School No.2

Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson, Oupa Bodibe said Bramfischer Primary School No.2 is expected to be completed this financial year.

Bodibe said there are five mobile classroom schools in Soweto namely:

  • Julius Sebolai Primary School (Bramfischerville)
  • Moses Kotane Primary (Bramfischerville)
  • Nkone Maruping Primary (Bramfischerville)
  • Bramfischerville Primary No.2 (Bramfischerville)
  • Glenridge Primary (Protea Glen)

GDE’s the long term plan is to replace all mobile schools with brick and mortar structure across the province in the next five years.
