Empowerment hub launched to assist the youth with their careers

The hub will assist the Soweto youth with entrepreneurship development programmes and mentorship programmes.

The Soweto empowerment hub was launched at the community hall in zone 10 Meadowlands.

The launch focused on the theme ‘Ubuntu the culture of entrepreneurship’ an entrepreneurial networking session that aims to empower and support the youth trough educational support and practical skills for self-reliance.

Chairperson of the hub Ntombi Mabuza said: “The hub will help the youth in discovering their true potential.

“We will assist the youth with Edu- Space programmes, share business ideas, entrepreneurship development programmes, mentorship programmes and assist with business registration.

At the launch different young entrepreneurs talked about their success stories in order to motivate others in creating their own success stories.

Radio personality from Trans Africa FM also owner of LN multimedia Nyiko Dubula was one of the guest speakers at the launch.

Dubula said that as a businessman one of the important aspects is to take a risk.

“I had to quit my job in order to start a business of selling t-shirt because I had bigger dreams of one day owning my own company.

“Selling those t-shirts generated a lot of money and inspired me to start LN multimedia with my friend.

“One of the reasons businesses fail in our community is the lack of information.

“As a business man you need to take the initiative to search for information because being informed result in making informed business decisions,” said Dabula.

Dabula said that it was hard to be where he is now but because he acted on his idea he was able to succeed.

Other guests at the launch included Bongani Goodman Mkhwanazi an anther of Dream and I, Charles Ivy Raphiri founder of Ivy Ink project an information technology company and Tebalo Makhene founder of Makhene media a communication company.

The Soweto empowerment hub is an organisation that supports and develops business ideas.

The hub works with other initiatives to ensure that underprivileged circumstances do not hinder future disciplined entrepreneurs.

The goal of the hub is to help alleviate poverty by creating a skilled workforce in Soweto.

The hub currently has not resource center but use online platforms to communicate with the members.
