Political parties mourn the passing of #Mandoza

Messages of condolences keep pouring at following the passing of the Nkalakatha hit-maker.

Political parties have joined the rest of the country in mourning the passing of Kwaito legend Mduduzi “Mandoza” Tshabalala.

Mandoza lost his battle with cancer on Sunday leaving behind his wife Mpho and three children. The Nkalakatha hit-maker was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago.

Inkatha Freedom Party in the Gauteng has sent condolences to Mandoza’s family.

 “We are deeply saddened by the passing of this important music legend who was able to touch so many lives with his music beyond race and culture in our country. He will surely be missed,” said IFP chairperson in Gauteng, Bonginkosi Dhlamini.

Reports from the family, Mandoza passed away on Sunday on his way to Charlotte Maxeke Hospital. African National Congress spokesperson Zizi Kodwa has described Mandoza’s passing as marking the end of an era for Kwaito.

“It is indeed a sad day for all of us in the ANC and no doubt to South Africans at large.  We have lost a legend, someone who was a unifying figure because his music was enjoyed by young and old across all races,” said Kodwa.

Union federation Cosatu has described Mandoza as a hero of the working class.

“Mandoza was not just a music legend and a hero to many working class people and black people but his music transcended the racial barriers and he had a substantial following across the country,” said Cosatu’s Sizwe Pamla.
