An alleged burglar was chased down by residents in Extension 3 after three homes in the area were burgled.
He fled to Keurboom Street where the homeowner’s dog started mauling him.
The man, identified as Abie Smith and known to residents bled profusely inside the homeowner’s backyard as residents bayed for his blood in the street.
He admitted to having a drug dependency problem and begged residents’ forgiveness.
The crowd gathered outside were intent on showing no mercy and were clearly fed up with the spate of burglaries which has hit the area.
The police and ambulance services were contacted and the now profusely bleeding suspect was taken to hospital for treatment following which housebreaking charges will be laid.
