An 84-year-old man from Kliptown informal settlements has been arrested for allegedly raping an 11-year-old girl.
According to police reports, the incident happened on Sunday this past weekend and the girl lives next door to the man’s house.
“The man used sweets as a bait to lure the girl to his shack where he raped her.
“After being raped, the girl was threatened not to tell anyone but told her older cousin when she got home,” said constable Thuli Ngwenya from the Kliptown police.
The man is due to appear at the Protea Magistrate Court on Tuesday on charges of rape and the girl was taken to Bara Hospital for medical examination.
