Voting underway at many stations in Soweto

Elections underway in Soweto

Today, many people flocked to various voting districts to cast their vote with the hope that their lives will change.

Though it proved to be very windy with dust in the air – the weather didn’t stop people from exercising their democratic right.

At Kgatelopele VD – the queue was very long from the moment go.

Senior citizens were many compared to the youth.

Since 8am, the queue kept gaining momentum.

At Forte High VD – the turnout was poor from early hours of the morning but the presiding officer was positive that perhaps the turnout would change leading into the hours of the afternoon.

At Moses Kotane VD – the queue was moving very fast and the IEC staff was doing a good job it seemed.

Jabulani Shelembe cast his vote at Moses Kotane and was happy about how things went.

“I arrived at the voting station at about 10am, although there was a queue, I really didn’t wait my turn that long,” said shelembe.

No disruptions have been reported at any of these stations.

Councillor of Ward 47 Majonny Tsobane voted today at Thabang Primary.

Ward 48 councillor Jacquire Lekgetho voted especially yesterday at Enkolweni Primary.

Ward 49 councillor Mandla Mlangeni voted today at Ikusasalethu Secondary.

Ward 44 councillor George Lekgetho voted especially yesterday at Kgatelopele Secondary School.
