Get up and move

Meadowlands local gym hosts boot camp for school holiday youth.

Fun, fun, fun was the order of the day at a mini boot camp hosted by Devine Aerobics Club this morning at Fiat Stadium in Meadowlands.

The gym is passionate about keeping the youth off the street, so this school holiday their aim is to keep children busy while having fun at the same time through fun and fitness.

” We wanted to show the youth that it’s possible to live a healthy lifestyle and still have fun in the process,” said Zandile Mchunu a co- organiser.

Isaac Mphuthi a fitness junkie said, “I feel great, boot camp is the way to go and it unites people, especially those who can’t go to the gym on a regular basis.

My life is fitness and those who are not here definitely lost out because what we tried to work on today focused on the whole body.”

“It’s very nice to be here because I love fitness.

I’m also here to support my colleagues since I have a gym in Orlando West as well,” said Mongi Lebooa a fellow gym owner and attendee.

A mixture of high impact exercises using tyres, and the like, competitive games and dance moves definitely proved effective as the upbeat music invited passers-by who were not aware of the event taking place.

“Going to the gym is about living a healthy lifestyle and balancing a healthy diet, working out and getting enough rest.

It’s not just about losing weight,” said trainer/ instructor Charlie Koka.

“We decided to give people medals in order to encourage them to work harder, appreciate fitness and to perhaps join the gym as well,” said Jane Ndabezitha who was also part of the organising committee.

Ndabezitha said their wish as a gym is to see this project grow and have more people attend as they hosted it for the first time in Meadowlands.
